Data sourcebafin api

BaFin API for German fund and regulated-firm research

Research German regulated firms, funds, management companies and public BaFin export evidence with an AI agent.

dossaro lets an AI agent search supported BaFin public databases for regulated firms and investment funds, preserve management-company, depositary and portfolio relationships where exposed, and review public CSV, XML or spreadsheet artifacts. BaFin evidence is regulatory evidence, not private-fund LP or company-ownership data.

Install-and-run prompt
Review the dossaro MCP setup guide at https://dossaro.com/agent-setup/prompt.md, configure dossaro when possible, complete OAuth with the user, then perform this task: Search BaFin for this exact regulated firm, fund or management company; return matched regulatory profiles, fund, management-company, depositary or portfolio rows and available public export evidence with dates and source references, without treating regulatory relationships as ownership or LP disclosure.

What the official source provides

BaFin publishes public databases for supervised companies and investment funds. Its company search and investment-funds database can expose regulated-firm and fund records.

Depending on the public record, the source can identify a fund, management company, depositary or regulatory portfolio relationship. BaFin also exposes source-native CSV, XML or spreadsheet exports for supported datasets.

These are regulatory records. They do not establish a private fund's limited partners, the ownership of a management company or a complete financial profile.

What dossaro adds

dossaro turns the supported BaFin routes into repeatable source operations:

  • search regulated firms and investment funds;
  • preserve source-native identifiers and profile context;
  • return supported fund, management-company, depositary and portfolio rows;
  • expose public export artifacts as document references where available;
  • parse supported raw export text without inventing missing fields;
  • return typed rate, source or runtime limitations.

For a German company rather than a regulated-firm or fund question, start with the Handelsregister and Unternehmensregister workflow. The company research agent workflow can route between those surfaces.

Agent workflow

  1. Define whether the target is a regulated firm, fund, management company or depositary.
  2. Supply the exact name and any known BaFin or fund identifier.
  3. Search the relevant BaFin public surface.
  4. Confirm the candidate using source-native identifiers and regulatory context.
  5. Retrieve the supported profile, fund or relationship rows.
  6. Follow returned public export references when source detail is needed.
  7. Preserve retrieval date, source URL and regulatory labels.
  8. State which ownership, LP, performance or financial questions the source does not answer.

Within M&A target screening, BaFin should be one regulatory evidence lane rather than the sole company source.

Evidence and outputs

Useful inputs include:

  • legal or fund name;
  • known BaFin, LEI or fund identifier;
  • requested regulatory role;
  • management-company or depositary question;
  • whether a source-native export is required.
OutputResearch use
Matched regulatory recordIdentifies the supervised firm or fund
Source-native identifierSupports repeatable follow-up
Regulatory status or categoryStates how the source classifies the record
Management-company or depositary rowPreserves a source-backed regulatory relationship
Public export referenceKeeps supported BaFin data reviewable
LimitationSeparates regulatory evidence from ownership or LP conclusions

When an export is central to the assignment, use the company-register documents workflow as the review pattern while retaining BaFin's regulatory meaning.

Coverage and limitations

  • BaFin databases are regulatory sources, not comprehensive company-register or private-market ownership databases.
  • Fund, management-company, depositary and portfolio links are regulatory relationships, not equity ownership.
  • Public voluntary records can be incomplete or updated after a real-world change.
  • Private fund LP identities and natural-person end ownership are generally outside this source.
  • Public export formats can change and may require source-specific parsing.
  • Some runtimes can need the configured BaFin retriever when the portal rejects direct headers.
  • Empty results do not prove that a firm or fund is unregulated in every relevant regime.
  • dossaro does not provide regulatory, legal or investment advice.
